I have never had an issue taking antibiotics so when I was prescribed Cefdinir for throat infection I didnt think twice. After 3 days I had a rash on my back but I didnt connect the dots do to speak. By day 5 I had stomach cramps, abdominal cramps, diarrhea and flu-like symptoms. My throat wasnt even that sore but I had swollen glands and with COVID I didnt want to take any chances. This drug is awful. I was so fatigued on day 5 I just wanted to sleep. I have 8 pills left and wont finish them. Monday morning Ill be asking my doctor for a different drug.

My wife came down with pneumonia and i brought her to an Urgent Care clinic on the second day that she was feeling ill. There the Physician’s Assistant prescribed CEFDINIR. I don’t recall the brand but it was two pills a day for 14 days. My wife experienced horrible vomitting every day for the five days she was on the drug. Finally she couldn’t take it anynmore and I took her back to the Urgent Care clinic. The new PA, seeing the extreme discomfort that my wife was in, switched her to another antibiotic that was dosewd at one pill every day for seven days. The new antibiotic worked immediately and she went back to work after six days on the new drug. The lesson for anyone who experiences something similar is to go back to the doctor and tell them you want another drug. Extreme discomfort is not normal – although the nurses I talked to told me that it was and not to bring my wife in. i hope our misfortune serves to help someone else. – Northern Virginia.

I had to come back to this board because I was here 10 days ago and literally terrified to take this antibiotic my dr prescribed me based on these reviews. I decided to be as proactive as possible and purchased a probiotic to take as well as eating yogurt everyday and I did not experience any side effects. In the British study, people suffering from facial pain and a runny nose with greenish or yellowish mucous generally improved within about two weeks whether they took the standard antibiotic amoxicillin, steroid nose spray or fake medicine.

The results, based on patients reporting whether their symptoms had improved, echo previous findings in children.

Steroid sprays sometimes are used, but the study found they also were no better than dummy drugs, although they appeared to provide some relief for patients with only minor symptoms.
