Abscessed Teeth Are Not Caused By Bacteria But By You
Modern dentistry has a theory which is not accurate. Dentists will claim that bacteria is the cause of tooth decay and your dental infection. The abscess is caused by the body trying to rid itself of harmful bacteria.
I have some good news and bad news for you about bacteria and tooth abscess. Bacteria dont cause the tooth abscess . You caused the tooth abscess . But the bad news is really good news. Because if you can cause your tooth abscess, then you can uncause your tooth abscess. If bacteria cause your abscess then you cannot do much to heal it other than to take an anti-life remedy that we call antibiotics. .
The same life forms that are supposed to cause tooth decay are also known to be beneficial or benign bacteria in our gut. These include streptococcus and lactobacillus. It does not make sense to say that in our intestines we need these bacteria, but that in our mouth, these bacteria cause decay.
Rhus Vulgaris And Lantana Trifolia
These two common plants are the most common remedies for teeth problems. In fact, they are used as chewing sticks to care for the teeth.
These plants are also rich in antimicrobial and antiseptic properties thereby promoting healthy dental care.
These sticks also scrape off plaque and they are good alternatives to toothbrushes.
You can easily get these at any health store.
Lycopodium When Teeth Are Painful To Touch And Chewing
This medicine is prepared from plant Lycopodium Clavatum also known as club moss. This plant belongs to family lycopodiaceae. This medicine is considered when there is a toothache and teeth are painful to touch and chew. The pain may be relieved from taking warm drinks and also from warm applications. The tooth may be decayed.

Essential Oils For Treating Tooth Decay And Cavities
Essential oils are powerful remedies for cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay. They help to stimulate the flow of blood to the gums and this, in turn, will make nutrients available to your teeth.
The following essential oils have strong anti-bacterial properties and they are potent in removing surface bacteria from your teeth.
Antibiotics And Tooth Abscesses
Amoxicillin is a common antibiotic prescribed for the abscess treatment. There are others used as well, but Amoxicillin tends to work the best for treating the infection, and dentists or doctors will claim that it is only way to cure abscessed teeth. My opinion is to avoid antibiotics at all costs unless it is an emergency. Dentist Hal Huggins in Uniformed Consent page 230 writes similarly: Anti-biotic therapy should be minimal and closely monitored, as eradication of one infection can promote the development of a new infection, with an unwanted trained of bacteria colonized elsewhere in the body. The antibiotic poisons the body and forces it to stop its puss removal activity, or hyperstimulates it to remove the pus faster.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Has Answers For Toothache
This is a story told by Dr Hu Naiwen, a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. When he was learning acupuncture about 40 years ago, a classmate suddenly said to him one day, You know, I just learnt a few acupoints, and my toothache is gone!
The classmate chanced upon a book that said the sanjian acupoint treated toothaches, so he applied an acupuncture needle to it. The sanjian acupoint is located along the Large Intestine Meridian, and it happened that the toothache was caused by problems in the Large Intestine Meridian. So, by a stroke of luck, the toothache was cured.
TCM believes that there is a cause for toothaches. If the right causes and meridians are identified, they can be treated.
Toothaches are common, but few people go to TCM doctors for solutions. TCM has a few effective ways of dealing with toothaches.
There are two major types of toothaches. One has to do with the teeth, while the other has to do with the gums.
TCM holds that the teeth are an extension of the bones, and since the kidneys govern the bones, they also govern the teeth. When the kidneys have problems, the teeth have problems, too.
In the case of gum diseases, since the Hand Yang Ming Large Intestine Meridian passes through the lower gum, lower gum problems are related to the large intestine.
Likewise, since the Foot Yang Ming Stomach Meridian passes through the upper gum, upper gum problems are linked to the stomach.

Identification And Preparation Of Tcm Extracts
TCM were purchased from local Chinese medicine store and were identified morphologically, histologically and chemically using standard Chinese herbal identification procedures3.
Voucher specimens including the identification and classification of all the TCMs to be tested were stored in the Hard Tissue Laboratory, University of Hong Kong. TCM extracts were prepared using standard protocols for aqueous extraction5. Briefly, 4 ml distilled water was added to 10 g of TCM powder. The mixture was boiled under stirring on a hot plate for 4 h. Distilled water was added occasionally to prevent drying. At the end of boiling, distilled water was added to make up the volume of the mixture to 4 ml. The mixture was cooled, centrifuged and filtered. This produced 2.5 g/ml of one TCM extract.
The 20 TCM drugs chosen for the study were Cortex magnoliae officinalis , Cortex phellodendri , Flos caryophylli , Flos chrysanthemi morifolii , Flos lonicerae japonicae , Fructus armeniaca mume , Fructus forsythiae suspensae , , , , Herba ephedrae , Herba portulacae oleraceae , Herba menthae haplocalycis , Pericarpium granati , Radix et rhizoma rhei , Radix gentianae , Radix isatidis , Ramulus cinnamomi cassia , Rhizoma cimicifugae and . Chlorhexidine gluconate, a common oral antiseptic, at a concentration of 0.2% was used as a positive control for all experiments.
Symptoms Of A Tooth Infection
The most obvious symptom of a tooth infection is pain. Intense, sharp, or shooting pain in a tooth is a good indication that there is an infection that needs to be dealt with. Some of the other common symptoms of a tooth infection are:
Severe, persistent, throbbing toothache that can radiate to the jawbone, neck or ear
Sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures
Sensitivity to the pressure of chewing or biting
Fever not associated with flu or another illness
Swelling in your face, cheek, or jaw.
Tender, swollen lymph nodes under your jaw or in your neck
Sudden rush of foul-smelling and foul-tasting, salty fluid in your mouth and pain relief, if the abscess ruptures
Difficulty breathing or swallowing

How To Use Clove Oil To Treat Toothache
Clove oil contains a chemical called eugenol, which acts as an anesthetic and antibacterial agent. Clove oil is anti-inflammatory and antifungal.
It is available from many supermarkets, drug stores, and health food shops, or can be bought online. It has a strong, warm, and spicy taste.
To use it for a toothache, dip a clean tissue, cotton swab, or cotton ball into the oil and wipe it over the gums at the point of the pain.
People can also use whole cloves. Simply place them on the affected area for several minutes at a time.
Clove oil has long been applied directly to the gums to ease toothache. There is evidence that the eugenol in clove oil is effective at fighting several known oral bacteria. Medicines containing eugenol are widely used in dentistry.
Some research suggests that clove gel may reduce the pain of needle insertion in dentistry. More work needs to be done before this is conclusive.
The United States Food and Drug Administrations rate the effectiveness of certain treatments based on the available evidence. It has recently downgraded the classification of clove oil.
The FDA now believe there is not enough evidence to suggest it is effective for toothache, and that more research is needed.
While clove oil is usually safe when applied to the skin, repeated use inside the mouth and on the gums can have side effects.
Side effects may include damage to the:

What About Brushing With Toothpaste Or Fluoride For Abscessed Teeth
People always ask me if they should use toothpaste or even fluoride to brush their teeth. These pastes contain sweeteners and chemicals. And fluoride is a deadly poison, I wouldnt put it in my mouth. You can use some sea salt to brush your teeth, make sure to brush really well for several minutes. Another fun way to brush teeth that is not going to be toxic like regular toothpastes is with toothsoap.
Broth Microdilution Susceptibility Test
The TCMs, Rhizoma coptidis and Galla chinensis, which showed potent antimicrobial activity against the four tested bacteria in the agar diffusion assay screening test, were selected for minimum inhibitory concentration determination using the standard broth microdilution assay2, 6, 7.
In brief, bacteria were cultured anaerobically in HBA for 37 days at 37 °C. The bacterial cultures were harvested and suspended in an appropriate medium at a concentration of 1 × 106 cells/ml . Broth microdilution assay was performed in polystyrene, 96-well microtiter plates as previously described13. Each plate included a positive control and negative control and serial two-fold dilution of the drug. P. gingivalis suspensions were prepared in P. gingivalis broth whereas other bacterial species were prepared in brain heart infusion broth. Bacterial inoculums were prepared as described previously and 100 l of 1 × 106 cells/ml bacterial suspensions were added to each well. Subsequently, microtiter plates were incubated for 48 h at 37 °C in an anaerobic chamber. Visual inspection was used to determine the MIC. After MIC determination, 20 l of suspension from each well was inoculated in blood agar plates for 48 h for observation. The lowest drug concentration that yielded no growth was documented as minimum bactericidal concentration . For P. gingivalis all the procedures took the slow growth of the organism into account.

Chinese Medicine And Periodontal Gum Disease

Chinese Medicine and Periodontal Gum Disease 11/1/2006
According to the American Academy of Periodontology, Periodontal diseases, including gingivitis and periodontitis, are serious infections that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. The word periodontal literally means around the tooth. Periodontal disease can affect one tooth or many teeth. It begins when the bacteria in plaque causes the gums to become inflamed.
The website of AaoP, www.perio.org, offers the basics:
In the mildest form of the disease, gingivitis, the gums redden, swell and bleed easily. There is usually little or no discomfort. Gingivitis is often caused by inadequate oral hygiene. Gingivitis is reversible with professional treatment and good oral home care.
Untreated gingivitis can advance to periodontitis. With time, plaque can spread and grow below the gum line. Toxins produced by the bacteria in plaque irritate the gums. The toxins stimulate a chronic inflammatory response in which the body in essence turns on itself, and the tissues and bone that support the teeth are broken down and destroyed. Gums separate from the teeth, forming pockets that become infected. As the disease progresses, the pockets deepen and more gum tissue and bone are destroyed. Often, this destructive process has very mild symptoms. Eventually, teeth can become loose and may have to be removed.

Herbs That Remove Toxins Or Bacterial Infections From The Body
Bacteria and other pathogens are nearly omnipresent in our world. While our immune system has the ability to protect the body from their harmful effects, it is when these invaders reach toxic levels that infection can occur. Bacterial and other infections should be treated by a trained health care professional. In addition, certain herbs may help kill bacteria and strengthen the body’s natural defenses. Consult your doctor before trying herbal remedies.
If you are experiencing serious medical symptoms, seek emergency treatment immediately.

Is Extraction Necessary
Should the tooth be extracted when there is a toothache? Different doctors hold different views.
After having a few teeth extracted, it dawned on Dr. Hu that if he had not had his first extraction back then, subsequent extractions could have been avoided.
He gave an example. If an upper left back molar is extracted, it will have an impact on the corresponding upper right back molar, resulting in misalignment and tooth decay, since food will be trapped. If this tooth is removed, the corresponding tooth in the lower jaw may become longer, putting pressure on other teeth.
The pain may lead to more extractions. Therefore, Hu suggests saving every tooth with just a filling as far as possible.

What Have We Learned
- Patients with nephrotic syndrome are susceptible to infections. A 2013 research review found that taking astragalus may be associated with a lower risk of upper respiratory tract infections in children with nephrotic syndrome than prednisone treatment alone. However, the review concluded the studies were of low quality.
- An astragalus-based herbal formula didnât extend the lives of people with advanced lung cancer, a small 2009 trial reported. The study was supported in part by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health .
