How I healed my ear infection with these homemade ear drops! || bacterial & fungal infection

Most ear infections go away on their own, although antibiotics are recommended for children younger than 6 months of age and for children at high risk for complications. You can treat your child at home with an over-the-counter pain reliever like acetaminophen , a warm cloth on the ear, and rest. Do not give aspirin to anyone younger than 18. Your doctor may give you eardrops that can help your childs pain. Be safe with medicines. Read and follow all instructions on the label.

Your doctor can give your child antibiotics, but ear infections often get better without them. Talk about this with your doctor. Whether you use them will depend on how old your child is and how bad the infection is.

Minor surgery to put tubes in the ears may help if your child has hearing problems or repeat infections.

Sometimes after an infection, a child cannot hear well for a while. Call your doctor if this lasts for 3 to 4 months. Children need to be able to hear in order to learn how to talk.

Best Ear Drops For Ear Infection For Adults

You can choose the best earache medicine by first seeing your doctor to determine the cause of your earache. The type of medicine you use for treatment will likely depend on the reason behind your ear pain. If your earache is the result of an ear infection, your doctor will probably recommend treatment with popular over-the-counter pain relievers and might additionally prescribe antibiotics to help get rid of the infection. Swimmer’s ear is also frequently treated with over-the-counter pain relievers and antibiotics. There are also some home remedies you can use in place of, or in addition to, earache medicine to help you get some relief from your ear pain.

Some of the best earache medicine you can use is in the form of over-the-counter pain relievers containing either ibuprofen or acetaminophen. These medicines come in both liquid and pill form, and they are usually effective for eliminating ear pain temporarily. In general, ibuprofen is slightly stronger than acetaminophen, and you may have more luck with ibuprofen for dealing with incredibly severe ear pain. Acetaminophen is typically useful for treating minor ear pain, and it can usually be taken more often throughout the day than ibuprofen, although you should always follow the specific directions on dosage for the medicine you are using.

    Garlic Poultices Or Oil

This seemed to be the most effective remedy, as our son fell asleep really quickly after we started this and slept through the night. He woke up feeling much better.

Garlic is a potent natural antibiotic and antiviral but it can be too harsh for a childs skin when used alone. To remedy this, I sliced some garlic and placed the slices between four sheets of gauze . I sewed the edges shut and used a bandana tied around his head to secure it.

The gauze kept the garlic from touching his skin directly but was porous enough to let the beneficial properties of the garlic get into the ear.

We repeated this treatment the next night to be safe but he was symptom free after the first night. Ive also heard of using onions in the same way, but I had garlic on hand so I used it.

An Amish friend swears by this remedy for more than just ear aches. If any of her children get sick, she makes similar poultices of garlic and onion and places on the feet, inside socks, during sleep. She said it hasnt failed her yet. Ive only tried once and it was really effective for my cold.

I also now keep garlic oil on hand for use if any of the kids start to complain of itching or pain in the ear and weve avoided ear infections since starting this.

    Countdown Pharmacy

Use this medication exactly as directed by your doctor.

An antibiotic medication may sometimes be prescribed along with this medication if you also have an infection.

To make sure that the right amount of medication is given, and to avoid touching the ear with the dropper, have another person insert the drops if possible. To lower the risk of dizziness, hold the container in your hand for a few minutes to warm it. To apply ear drops, wash your hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your ear or any other surface. Lie on your side or tilt the affected ear upward. Hold the dropper directly over the ear, and place the prescribed number of drops into the ear canal. To help the drops roll into the ear of an adult, hold the earlobe up and back. In children, hold the earlobe down and back. Keep the head tilted for about 2 minutes, or insert a soft cotton plug if so directed. You may be instructed by your doctor to moisten the cotton plug with this medication. Repeat for the other ear if so directed. Do not rinse the dropper. Replace the cap after use.

If you are using this medication to help remove earwax, gently rinsing the ear with warm water or using a soft rubber bulb after 2 to 3 days of treatment may help remove any remaining earwax. Consult your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of an ear bulb.

Do not use in the eye.

    Two Home Remedies For Earaches

    1. Oils

Be it garlic, tea tree or olive people swear by putting oil in the ear to help with ear infections. While garlic does have antibacterial properties, Dr. Nguyen-Huynh urges caution. If youre using it for a middle ear infection, it wont get to the source of the problem. And even if you do have a hole in your eardrum, there arent studies showing its safe to put garlic in there.

    2. OTC numbing drops

Dr. Nguyen-Huynh recommends avoiding numbing drops. The effect is very brief, and sometimes it does the opposite and stings the ear.

    3. Try sleeping with your head in an elevated position.

    4. Take a mild pain reliever such as ibuprofen or paracetamol.

    5. Aspirin should not be given to children under 16, unless on the advice of a doctor.

    6. Apply a warm or a cold flannel to the side of your head, see which feels best for you.

    • If it leads to an allergic reaction, such as itching or burning, stop usage and consult the doctor.

  • Do Allergies Cause Ear Infections

Allergies can cause inflammation and contribute to ear infections by interfering with the Eustachian tubes ability to let air pass into the middle ear. However, in children under two years of age, allergies are usually not the main cause of ear infections. Allergy testing can identify the allergen triggers for your child. Medications or allergy shots usually can bring relief and also lessen the likelihood of ear infections.

Ear aches and infections are common among kids and regular swimmers. Usually, use of OTC ear drops is the first line of treatment to relieve ear discomfort. As ear infections occur as a consequence of bacterial invasion, use of antibiotics is an age-old remedy to destroy the bacteria. Antibiotic ear drops ensure that the bacterial infection remains localized and does not spread deep into the ear.

Auro Dri: Water entering inside the ear during swimming is many times responsible for causing bacterial growth. Bacteria thrive in moist environment and so drying the ear is essential to manage and get rid of this infection. Auro ear drops suck the water trapped inside the ear, thus making it dry. The dryness in ear stops bacteria from spreading as well as helps to kill the microbes.
